The exact date in 1915 that the Company was founded is unknown, but it was incorporated in 1918.
Robert Baron began carrying out domestic repairs and coffin making around the Deepdale area of Preston in the earliest days of the Company, walking 4 or 5 miles to each job and returning to his workshop for lunch each day! Robert would use a handcart to transport his tools and materials through the cobbled streets to each job.
In 1951 the Company received a telephone call from the manager of a large retailer - the job, repairing a broken rainwater pipe, was small but urgent. The request was attended to quickly and efficiently, and it was to be the start of a close relationship with one of the firm's most valued customers - Marks and Spencer plc. What makes this story all the more memorable is that the plumber who was sent out on this crucial assignment was no less than the soon-to-be-famous footballer Tom Finney!
Other milestones in the development of the firm have included the fitting out of the first Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in the UK - in Preston of course, as well as many other organisations, including Preston North End Football Club.
In 2006, the big decision was made to move the Business to new premises. Millennium City Park, near the Red Scar Industrial Estate, was considered ideal and so, after much hard work, everything was moved to start 2007 in the new premises.
We were delighted that our new premises were officially opened by Sir Tom Finney in March 2007.
